Transfer Students

Transfer Students

We are perhaps one of the most international business universities.  Not only do we have students from all over the world studying here in beautiful San Diego, but with campuses around the globe, our students can study internationally without hassle.

Where our students come from
California International Business University (CIBU) awards transfer credit for academic credit earned at previous accredited colleges and universities. Applicants who wish to obtain transfer credit must provide transcripts to CIBU’s Registrar for evaluation as per our admissions process. Copies of transcripts will be accepted for admissions purposes, however official transcripts must be sent directly to California International Business University from the institution from which the credits were earned within 30 days of enrollment.  Students have the right to appeal transfer of credit.  A written appeal must be made to the University and will be reviewed by a committee or designee.

Evaluation for transfer credit will be conducted by the Director of Admissions & Registrar or designee in consultation with appropriate faculty members.  CIBU will retain sole discretion to determine whether previously completed course content corresponds to program requirements and if student performance justifies the awarding of transfer credit. Transfer credits (from schools other than CIBU) will be accepted from U.S. institutions accredited by agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and/or foreign institutions approved by their appropriate governmental bodies.

For the bachelor’s degree program, CIBU will accept credits for courses in which the student received a 2.0 or better on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent. For graduate degree programs, CIBU will accept credits for courses in which the student received a 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent.

CIBU does not accept credits earned through challenge examinations and achievement tests except as listed in the Catalog.

CIBU has entered into articulation agreements with the following institutions:

  • ISTEC, Ecole Superieur de Commerce et de Marketing in Paris, France
  • Swiss School of Management in Rome, Italy

For both of these agreements, students applying to CIBU from the above mentioned institutions may transfer applicable credits into CIBU in accordance with CIBU’s transfer credit policy and the agreed upon arrangements.

Transfer Out
Since transfer of course credit to another educational institution is at the option of the receiving university/college, students should consult with the institution to which they possibly wish to transfer credit before enrolling at California International Business University. CIBU makes no representation whatsoever regarding transferring credits to any other college or university. You should assume credits are not transferable unless you have written approval from another college or university. Certifications and licenses may require additional study and cost.
